John Clay Walker - A Memoir
John Clay Walker was born on October 5th of 1948 at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. He enlisted in the Marine Corps after being wounded twice in Vietnam and earned two Purple Hearts. John then took advantage of the GI Bill earning a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota in 1976. Following his graduation, John spent most of the 70s and 80s working as a reporter and photographer for a variety of small newspapers in Minnesota and Iowa. In 1983 he moved out into Mexico to pursue a career as a full-time novelist. After falling in love with Mexican music, culture and food he decided to take a friend of his out of dinner in downtown Guadal
