The Trial of Clodius

Clodius is a patrician who wants to be elected tribune of the plebs. The position was invented during the social wars in order to protect the plebeians from the patricians. Clodius decides that he is going to give up his patricians status and become a plebeian. Julius caesar, however, thinks that's fine because he's a popularise as well. So he agrees and oversees the adoption, and he becomes a plebei. Eventually, after a lot of fighting and s he becomes tribune - at which point he immediately turns round and introduces a couple of laws.
