Introduction
Evia is a long island stretched out beside the greek mainland just to the north of athens. For decades, my family spent summers here near the little town of limne on the island's east coast. The thickly forested mountains aren't much visited by strangers, even greeks. In the north, the mixed, very old forest of black pine, southern greek variety of fir, and of a unique species of oak found only in evia cercusebo. And there's an eagle look up above the mountain, ter soaring in big circles.
