The Decline of Extreme Weather
More than two million people have died because of extreme weather since 1970. The better news is that the number has declined very sharply during that period, dropping from 667,000 in the 1980s to 184,000 in 2010s. It's more that we're getting better at coping with what the weather is throwing at us. And there are now five times as many extreme weather events than back when they started recording this.
