The Physiology of Fever
Bacterial counts are probably highest before people actually develop the fevers. These then induce endogenous pyrogens that then lead to the hypothalamus increasing the set point. And then at that point, once we've sort of turned up the thermostat, is that why we feel cold? Because we're not yet warmed back up to 101. So there may be a teleological explanation for this sensation of cold. If we feel cold, we're going to seek shelter. You know, now it's our home in the past.
