The Importance of Family Bonds
Sally Kohn: We've also had now a decades long experiment. You can trace this back to just a little before the 70s, but great society era experiment that has actively argued in the face of all evidence to the contrary that that bond, those family bonds can be replaced. The idea that the state could actually move into the fractured family area and shore up those bonds by just basically writing checks and designing housing as if that was the solution. What that did is further erode bonds in very tenuous communities that were already kind of teetering on the edge.
