Epictetus concludes his three sthep process in discourses to 18 with the following advice. We must not introduce some fine and noble impression in its place, but cast out this impure one. And where things seem most worthy of your approval, lay them naked and see how cheap they are,. The stoic is able to praise everything and all events because they accept that these proceed from a providentially ordered cosmos.
