Custer's Abandonment

During the Battle of Alba, Custer's troops were surrounded by Indians. The battle raged for three hours before darkness stopped the Indian attack. "We had no less than a dozen men killed and three times that number wounded," says Lt. Gen. George S. Patton. A group of H Troop soldiers took up cover in bushes to draw fire away from their attackers.
