The Insane Part of Postgres
The syntax choice for the semi-structured JSON is a little bit dated, feels a little bit like a few too many special characters to some select a field inside a record. It all makes sense when you take into account the considerations that they had to go through because of certain backwards compatibility. We try to hue towards Postgres compatibility and I don't know precisely what the standard year that corresponds to. But I don't believe it is precisely in line with one edition of the standard.
