Dr. Aftab: "We have a very binary understanding of validity when we generally talk about mental illness" He says scientific research has shown that this view of understanding psychopathology doesn't seem to make sense. The challenge in the case of DSM is that right now its thresholds are not really optimized to do anything in particular, he says.
