When you start a subscription, what you're doing is you're storing the event name and handler function pair. You can very easily opt out of the synchronous path and just take all that metadata, toss it off to a task and do something async. I think PubSub is just an easy way to think about it because at the end of the day, that's sort of, that's what it feels like. But you really need to make sure that your hands are is pretty quick because it's not.
