His style has really varied over the years, he often gives himself a new kind of challenge with his books. For Norwegian Wood that challenge was for example writing dialogue with three characters talking. Some elements of Norwegian Wood I would say you can see in books like Sputnik Sweetheart. He's shifted between realism and fantastic elements. You can't ever be really certain what to expect other than that.
