The Importance of Phileopiety in Chinese Society
In modern Chinese it translates as xiao-shun, meaning respect and obedience. Phileopiety is something that comes from Chinese Buddhism and Taoism or Confucius. For many, it's interpreted as the children being responsible for caring for their parents and grandparents. But this dominant feature of family relations in Chinese society affects how China as a nation deals with death.
