The Paradox of Originality

When he talks about original, I'm not sure that he means brand new. He's just as much talking about natural and using the ordinary language. And the original is this idea of original genius. When people talked about it in connection with Shakespeare, it was partly that he was not a classic. But what's interesting in relation to what Jonathan was saying about Rousseau and the paradoxes of originality, is that all their poetry, in a way, can be seen as about this very thing.
