The Female Chimpanzee

The male chimpanzee must be muscled up and strong to impress the female. He will walk the boundaries of the territory that he must protect every day with only the males from his troop. The female is only half his size and is no match for his strength. However, she can be strong and aggressive if the need arises. By staying close to the male, she will remain safer from predators. As he is physically stronger, he will remain with her to obtain sexual gratification. A confident female chimpanzee is probably not going to make it. It seems reason then, that female inner chimps are frequently lacking in confidence and wary. They can be quick to become anxious and therefore avoid decision making
