Du boy's black reconstruction, 19 35, now re issued in a deluk' edition by the library of america. The book is an attempt to apply marxus framework to the civil war per from the general strike of labor that supposedly crippled the confederate war effort to the counter revolution of 18 76. Du boys was no historian. He consulted only limited sources and did no original archiva research. An omission that disturbed many scholars, several of whom dyspeptically noted his generous foundation support.
