The History of the Library
By 30 b c e, the romans were implementing the most momentous cultural appropriation that had ever taken place anywhere in the world. They conducted the wholesale transfer of the major elements of greek religion, myth legend, philosophy and literature to a roman setting. And libraries were absolutely sential to this project. For the wonderful poet ovid exiled from rome in what is now rumania,. The library became representative of the civilization he missed so much as a whole. So it's like going to the british library, the senate house library and another one.
