The Threat of AI and Education

The threat of generative AI technologies like chat GPT is that it's really good at doing the nonsense that schools overvalue. The approach that I've taken has been to double down on timeless programming activities where kids are messing about with language. And then they start understanding how the computer is thinking and what the sort of logical fallacies and weaknesses in a system are. So all of this was an embodiment of kind of a utopian vision that Seymour Papper was for more than 50 years, which would allow you to learn mathematics as naturally as playfully and as meaningfully by living in France.
