Narcissists have the emotional development of a two year old and you're not going to fix them. Borderlines narcissists are more similar to two year olds than adults. They typically do not believe that anything or anyone in their world is permanent. And so they go from being attention seeking and controlling to, and manipulative to childish when they're not getting their needs met.
