I go through the script with a sort of absurdly fine tooth comb. Why do I ask for coffee, not tea? Why do I really think of that character? Have I ever met that waiter before? Have I been to this restaurant before? And that way you gradually build up an ever-mushrooming biography. It keeps growing and growing and growing until it's many, many pages long. That helps to bed me down and I know where I am and in terms of who the character is. Never want to be in front of a camera feeling what the British actor is called, Eggie - which means you have egg on your face when you don't know how to act
