The Experiential Threshold

There is a big difference between knowing of and being immersed in the experience. For instance, how this works out with a 22 or 24 year old who might know Jalen hurts Russia's for all those touchdowns in the Super Bowl. But realize if you asked him about 9 11, he'd be retrieving from the same memory place as he stores the Battle of Gettysburg. Now, it's the same with me in the fall of Saigon or my dad and Pearl Harbor. There is what we remember and then there's history and the difference is stark.
