John Hines and the Republican Party
John Hines was a great man, but I don't think the GOP as a party that John Hines would recognize today. Pennsylvanians are very much about their guy; they'll put up with a lot if they know you and you're from. Mitt Romney is the closest that you have to somebody like that. Even he constantly pulls his punches, constantly steps back. He does throw some, right? But it's not effective.
