The population of the British Isles didn't recover until the 18th century. A second plague in 1361, which killed perhaps 20, 30% of the population again. And then you see the return of plague every few decades for the next couple of centuries. This demographic shock really altered society and basically kick started a process that over a period of centuries resulted in the emergence of capitalism.
