James Monroe - A History of the British Empire
James Monroe was the head of Scotland Yard's criminal investigation department. He worked with government spymaster general Edward Jenkinson, who had his own private force of spies in London. The two men were involved in a number of high-profile investigations over the next few decades. James Monroe later became one of Britain's most senior police officers.
