I Have Been and Quieted as a Weaned Child
If a child has not yet been weaned and they're hungry, if they realy completely on mother to be able to meet their physical needs any time they need it, they just cry out for it. A weaned child, on the other hand, has developed at least some measure of independence. They no longer are convinced that all it takes is me to cry, and then it's going i'm going to get whatever i've been crying for. No, there's something beautiful here about developing that sense of patience and trust.
