Y2K, What's Happening to the American Character?

There's a time magazine cover story called Busy Bodies and Cry Babies. Two homeless people who are in the New York subway system, there's a track that is like disused. They pull out a mattress, they put it on the tracks, they start having sex and then a train comes. The dude loses like a part of a toe and I think the woman has like her pelvis dislocated or something.
