The governments in that region tend to wish that we would shut up. I mean, you got to remember about Southeast Asian nations is that all of these nations bar Thailand were once colonized by Western powers and within living memory. The sense of national sovereignty inculcated two things: One is sort of a fierce nationalism; the other is a fierce attachment to the norm of national sovereignty.
