I'm very interested in the research about intrinsic versus extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is about fostering a set of beliefs inside the child. I've found it personally very interesting how intrinsic motivation can be really powerful with kids. However, I've been in a couple of schools recently where their approach has been very, very extrinsic. It's all been about house points and rewards and consequences. And when you stand back and you look at the children in those two schools, for them, with their children, it was working. The kids liked it, the adults like it, the behavior in the schools was good.
