Why Haven't We Boosted High-Skill Immigration?
In an ideal world we would drastically increase high-skill immigration because not only do high-skill immigrants contribute proportionally more to innovation and GDP growth. The evidence is in fact really quite strong that skilled immigrants, it don't just pull better, but there's actually less backlash. Canada has much less anti-immigrant backlash than other places. And for a long time, the conceit in the Democratic Party was that they should not allow any immigration policy change to go forward.
