i think i've been able to make a compelling case for the relationship between responsibility and meaning. You can't have a conversation about rights without opening up a void on the responsibility side, because your rights are my responsibility. Most of the meaning that you experience in your life is actually to be found in the voluntary adoption of responsibility. I was pretty lost and aimless and nihilistic, and may be attracted by the blandishments of the right, or perhaps the left, because of that emptiness.
