The Stakes of Consensus
The stakes as we can see are growing higher and higher. I don't think your average American wants the stakes to be what they are becoming. We're at a place where people will just, you know, cancel you if you don't subscribe to the same article of faith that they do. And there is no room for debate or reconsideration on any issue. It sets up a zero sum game where someone has to lose and someone has to win. That can't lead to consensus.
