What Are Good Readers Doing?
Marie Clay observed 100 children in Auckland for an entire year. She wanted to know what were the good readers doing, and what were the poor readers doing that was different. Her basic idea was that good readers are good problem solvers. According to Clay's theory, when good readers come to a word they don't know, they ask themselves good questions.
