Maximian's Invasion of the North Sea

In the spring of two 89, maximian was ready to answer that question. An invasion fleet had been under construction for some time. Now that the germans were fairly well pacified, maximian used the rhine delta as his launching pad into the north sea. From the very beginning, he faced an uphill battle. Corocius and his navy were experts at navigating the rough northern waters. Even if maximian ran cerotius blockade, he would find no easy landing sights on the other side. And so try he did. It is perhaps not surprising that all we know to day about the invasion of two 89 is that it failed. Emperors were not in the habit of dwelling
