Introduction

The classical liberal tradition is not essentially a tradition of harmony of all current social interests. It's the harmony of all members of society under a condition of justice, but they were quite aware that their own society contained strong elements of injustice. This idea that they were fighting on behalf of the producers of those who had a right to their income comes out again and again in the classical liberal tradition.
