Shepherding the Flock of God, That Is Among You

The verb in first peter five that augments shepherding here is exercising oversight. It's the verb form of the noun overseer that we saw in acts 20 28 and two other new testament texts about overseers. In this context, it doesn't just mean to watch from a tower far away. The overseers, they're over the flock, and they watch out and they see. So there is a richness in this biblical image of shepherdinges.
