Do You Cling to the Narrative of Egypt?

In the story, joseph doesn't know where his father is after he's taken away from him. He channels a little bit of his inner jacob to try and find out what has become of him. But then in the next chapter, his brothers show up - but they don't have their other favorite son. And so it becomes very clear that this isn't going to go well for them.
