Heparin and Hyperkalemia
Heparin is one of the oldest medications in continuous use. It was discovered way back in 1916 by a medical student whose name was James Clayne when he was at Johns Hopkins and he was studying dog livers. And because it was found in liver tissue originally he, it was named heparin acknowledging sort of the Greek word for liver hepar, but heparin is actually made naturally all over the body, not just the liver.
