"Oriental Adventures" was written to capitalize on the 80s fascination with Asian culture. Gary Gygax thought it was a terrible mistake to have that class based system be bogged down with skills. But this is also one of the things that would become sort of an integral optional rule set that defines second edition, which incidentally was written by Zeb Cook. "There's like a weird emnity here between Zeb Cook and Gary GyGax," he says.
