The Path to Chancellor Heinrich Brunig

During the worst years of the Depression, Germany would be led by Chancellor Heinrich Brunig. Bruning believed that the best way to bring Germany out of the depression was through a policy of deflation. The French government strongly embraced a deflationary strategy during the Depression for many of the same reasons as Bruning did. However, what Bruning failed to properly realize was the drastic chasm between what the government could afford and what the German people would accept.
