The Origins of Neutrinos in the Sky

Neutrinos are a signature of very highly energetic processes going on for example around black holes. If you look at the gamma ray map of NASA Fermi satellite you see a nice milky way and then extra galactic sources here and there so what we actually conclude is our neutrinos correspond to exactly that picture. There was a debate whether what Fermi was seeing was just radiation by electrons or whether they were made by cosmic rays mostly protons wandering through the galaxy colliding with the material in the galactic plane and producing gamma rays and neutrinos, he says.
