The Potential of CRISPR in Agriculture
I think it has potential to make a really big difference. Agriculture is one of the major drivers of greenhouse gas emissions and also loss of biodiversity. CRISPR has already been used for example to create rice which is more tolerant salt. So that's great because we should be able to start decreasing the amount of land that we use for agriculture if you apply that principle to lots of crops. I mean makes sense to me. We've been talking about humans so far but what are we looking at in terms of maybe making things like drought resistant strains for food or energy producing algae? Things like this might contribute to other aspects of the world that aren't human specific.
