All change by definition involves some movement from the stable base of functioning that a person is at right now. And this means that almost by definition, all change involves a degree of discomfort. Being able to tolerate that discomfort is essential to being able to change. So you've got three strategies. You can make the change less painful and more enjoyable. Or it could be through external strategies, like improving support network or learning how to ask for help with your wants and needs.
