We admire managers who are open to other ideas, who don't shut people down. Those kind of leaders are the ones that are more productive and happier in their jobs. They can handle messy, complex situations when there's an opposing idea. Listening doesn't necessarily mean that you agree. It means that you respect the other person enough to appreciate that they have a different point of view. And being open to that is not just extraordinary, but it's rare because people are moving so quickly yet.
