The Battle of the HMS Belial
HMS Bel-Iil, the second ship of the southern column, was making its approach. Collingwood and the HMS Royal Sovereign were still engaged in a savage close range battle with the Santa Ana. On deck, marines and sailors traded musket fire, while snipers fired down from the rigging above. The Marines on board the HMS Victory were outnumbered and outgunned. Soon the deck of Nelson's flagship was littered with bodies.
