The History of the Telegraph

On May 24 of 1844, the first telegraph on the newly completed DC Baltimore line was sent by Morse and it read what half God wrought. Once this message had actually been sent, it led to a period of explosive growth in communications. Over the following decade, after they finished that, more than 20,000 miles, that's 32,000 kilometers roughly of telegraph line was laid in the US. In Europe, a similar set of crisscrossing lines were being laid throughout the continent, connecting people like never before.
