The best example of a simple squamous cell is the aviolis of your lungs. It wants things to go from one side of it to the other, obviously into the bloodstream or to feed the cells that are on the other side of it. So gas exchange across simple squamous epithelia is a great example. But we'll... No, we're not confusing, but the name then changes.
