The Perversity of Humanity in Renaissance Paintings

I think as a woman, I look at these works and I see myself in so much of it. It almost reminds me of someone like Alice Neal who really kind of paints the psychological aspect of her sitter. When I go to museums, I love to see figurative historical paintings. They're such a precious window into the past and intimate. The drama of it is beautifully rendered and felt.
