The alergy list of the electronic health record is a communication tool. 90 to 95 % of people who have a penicilon alurgy label are not actually alurgic to penicilon. 80% of people with true i g e mediated penacilan alergy will actually lose this alurgic response after ten years. By getting a good alergy history, we can figure out what type of alergic reaction the patient might have had.
