One is to emphasize that there are various different ways in which Abraham might have responded to this command. It also gets the reader to focus on the journey that Abraham makes because Cil Encio thinks that people often just go straight to the conclusion and say well it was alright in the end, he didn't have to sacrifice Isaac.
