The Winter War - A History of Hitler
While involved with Brown, Hitler had also struck up a close friendship with a young woman named Unity Medford. A British citizen, so distraught by the outbreak of war that the 25-year-old shoots herself in the head. She is admitted to hospital with a bullet lodged in her brain and will die in 1948. With a severe winter setting in, the worst in half a century, Hitler postpones his attack on the west till the spring.
